It was the high and lows of motorsport for Jamaican Douglas “Hollywood” Gore at the completion of the ENET Caribbean Clash of Champions at the newly rebuilt South Dakota Circuit in Guyana on November 5.

The event was billed as the Greatest Race of All Time as it would see multiple regional circuit racing legends converge for an epic Group 4 race.

Along with Gore, Bajan Mark Maloney, Trinidad’s Franklyn Boodram, Guyanese drivers Mark Viera and Kevin Jeffrey would take to the track re-living a rivalry not seen since the end of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship.

For the Jamaican, the lows began during Saturday’s qualifying.

“We had a brake issue, almost never qualified and had to start the race on Sunday in 5th,” explained Gore.

However, “The Beast”, lived up to its name and by the first corner Gore took the lead.

“For the first race I was in the lead by corner one and kept pulling away, winning easily. The car felt great and I was looking for a 3-3 win,” he said.

Further success would be fleeting on the day.

“For race two I would start on pole. On the warm-up lap I was cruising around and out of nowhere Kevin Jeffrey overshoots the corner and hits me hard in the side of my car finishing my racing for the day. To say we were disappointed would be the least, but I have to thank the team that came to help us show the potential of The Beast”, said Gore.
