KINGSTON, Jamaica – Mona High advanced to the final of the ISSA Digicel Manning Cup for the first time in the school’s history, as they beat many-time champions St George’s College 2-1 at Sabina Park on Friday.
Matthew Spence put Mona ahead in the 38th minute but an unfortunate own goal from Akeem Bernard put St George’s level.
However, Denzel McKenzie’s brilliant free kick gave Mona the win and a spot in the final.
Craig Butler’s boys now await the winner of the Kingston College and Hydel clash, also at Stadium East.
St George’s, who have won the Manning Cup 22 times, see their 11- year drought continue.
