Granville register first win in Sandals Major League
GRANVILLE, St James – Former champions Granville United scored their first win of the St James Football Association/ Sandals Resorts International Major League on Sunday, beating Green Pond SC 4-0 with Dane Franklin scoring a brace at Granville Community Centre.
After picking up just one point from their first two games the win saw Granville United move up to third place in Zone A on four points, behind leaders Flanker United on 8 points and Heights FC with 6 points.
Renaldo Clarke got Granville United off to a fast start, scoring his second goal of the season and doing so in the first minute.
Franklin got his brace with strikes in the 13th and 17th minutes before Davian Thelwell made it 4-0 with his first goal of the season, in the 31st minute.
Meanwhile, the organisers have made adjustments to the schedule and will play a number of postponed games before the final set of matches in the first round, which has been moved to December 9th and 10th.
Montego Bay Boys Club and Irwin United will meet on Friday, December 1, with Green Pond SC and Wadada United meeting at Green Pond the following day.
