J$10 million in cocaine seized, American woman arrested at Sangster airport
ST JAMES, Jamaica— An American woman was arrested at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James after she was allegedly found with cocaine valued at over US$70,000 (J$10.7 million) strapped to her body.
Reports are that on Monday around 12:45pm, the American, who is a sales representative, checked in to board a departing flight to New York in the US when she was intercepted and searched at the security checkpoint by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Narcotics Division.
Four packages containing cocaine with a weight of 2.3 kilograms were reportedly found strapped to the woman’s body.
She was subsequently arrested and placed on reasonable suspicion for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Her identity is being withheld pending investigations.
