She’s My Destiny to lead home rivals in ‘Chris’ Armond Sprint
The $2-million Christopher “Chris” Armond Memorial Sprint Trophy, a Stakes (Gr1) event for three-year-olds and upward going over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m), is the main attraction on tomorrow’s 10-race card.
Below, the Jamaica Observer‘s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at the six runners down to compete and their chances of winning.
1. EMPEROROFTHECATS: (4 b g by Emperor Hall – Laws of the Cats) – Came off a near seven-month break to win the Ahwhofah Sprint over 6 furlongs (1,200m) on December 10. Emperorofthecats steps up in grade here and is going to find repeating not on the cards.
2. FREEDOM STREET: (4 b g by Uncaptured – Nofashionsense) – Ran a decent race to finish second by 4 ¾ lengths behind Perfect Brew over 7 furlongs (1,400m) on December 16. While Freedom Street is more comfortable at this distance, he is going to be left behind.
3. She’s My Destiny: (5 ch m by Bern Identity – Woman Is Boss) – Winner of this race last year. She’s My Destiny was expected to run a much better race than her eighth-place finish in the Mouttet Mile over a mile (1,600m) on December 2. However, She’s My Destiny had racked up three consecutive wins prior included the Philip Feanny Gold Cup over 7 furlongs. She has been working really well coming into this race and is expected to return to winning ways.
4. MADELYN’S SUNSHINE (USA): (4 dkb/br f by Joe’s Son Joey – Madelyn’s Finest) – Finished fourth in the recent Bruceontheloose Trophy over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m) behind Desert of Malibu, I’ve Got Magic, and Freedom Street. That day Madelyn’s Sunshine got interfered with by Desert of Malibu at the half-mile which resulted in her unexpected finish. With a clean and safe trip here, Madelyn’s Sunshine should be challenging for top honours here.
5. AMERICAN TAP (CAN): (6 b m by Tapiture – American Castle) – Ran no race in the Mouttet Mile on December 2 when finishing down the track in 10th position. American Tap was a winner on her local debut over the straight on October 21, winning the race by 4 ¾ lengths in a time of 58.2. She is expected to make a telling bid here.
6. LUKSOL (USA): (4 b f by Tapiture – Stunning Taste) – Has no realistic chance of winning.
