She’s My Destiny out front for ‘Chris’ Armond Memorial Sprint
SHE’S My Destiny could comfortably beat competitors in today’s edition of the $2-million Christopher “Chris” Armond Memorial Sprint Trophy main event at Caymanas Park, according to workout reports.
She’s My Destiny, coming into this the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance for three-year-olds and upwards, lit up the track on Saturday, December 16 when she galloped five and a half furlongs (1,100m) in 1:05.2, and the last five furlongs (1,000m) in a zippy 58.3. She’s My Destiny finished three lengths ahead of stablemate Madelyn’s Sunshine in that session, clocking in at 1:06.0 x 59.4.
Only the Canadian-bred American Tap has done anything at exercise that might be called notable preparation for this event. The Howard Jaghai trainee galloped four furlongs (800m) in 47.2 seconds on Saturday, December 16, indicating that she is fit for this contest.
She’s My Destiny, who won this race last year in a new stakes record time of 1:04.4, was expected to run a much better race than her eighth-place finish in the Mouttet Mile over a mile (1,600m) on December 2. However, She’s My Destiny had racked up three consecutive wins prior, including the Philip Feanny Gold Cup over seven furlongs (1,400m).
Despite carrying top weight of 57.0kgs (126 lb), She’s My Destiny is exceedingly difficult to defeat given her skill and talent. Former six-time champion jockey Omar Walker will ride the five-year-old chestnut mare She’s My Destiny.
The contest is positioned as the eighth event on the 10-race card with a post time of 3:45 pm. First race is at 11:30 am.
Madelyn’s Sunshine’s last race before this one was in the Bruceontheloose Trophy over six and a half furlongs (1,200m) on December 2. She finished fourth behind Desert of Malibu, I’ve Got Magic, and Freedom Street in the race. That day Madelyn’s Sunshine was interfered with by Desert of Malibu at the half mile which resulted in her unexpected finish. With a clean and safe trip here Madelyn’s Sunshine could challenge She’s My Destiny for the top spot.
American Tap ran absolutely no race in the Mouttet Mile over one mile when finishing down the track in 10th position. The six-year-old bay mare was a winner on her local debut over the straight on October 21, winning the race by 4¾ lengths in a time of 58.2. She is expected to make a telling bid here.
Emperorofthecats, Freedom Street, and Luksol rounded out the field.
Ones to watch:
Race 1) Rusty/JJ Warrior/Stickydon
