‘Bug’ killed in armed robbery at Westmoreland bar

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A farmer is dead and another man injured following an armed robbery at a bar in Ashton district in Westmoreland on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Alfred Buckridge, otherwise called ‘Bug’, from the community.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 10:55 pm, Buckridge was among other patrons at a bar when armed men proceeded to rob them.

Buckridge and another man ran but they were chased and shot by the gunmen who then fled the area.

The police were summoned and the injured men were taken to the hospital where Buckridge was pronounced dead.

Investigations are ongoing.
