Another Marley making moves on the charts

YG Marley, son of R&B/hip-hop singer Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley, is creating a bit of a buzz on the international music stage with his debut single Praise Jah in the Moonlight.

The song, which was released on Christmas Day last year, is a co-production between Johhny G, Joshua Marley and Hill.

Praise Jah in the Moonlight is a sprucy reggae track and it samples Bob Marley’s 1978 recording Crisis.

The song debuts at #3 on the New Zealand Top 40 Singles chart.

Another Jamaican making waves on the international charts is LunchMoney Lewis, son of Inner Circle founding member Ian Lewis.

LunchMoney teams with Florida-based rapper Pit Bull and Flo Rida for the single Greenlight, which debuts at #17 on the Irish Singles chart.

LunchMoney Lewis is best known for the hit single Bills, which topped the chart in Australia, and became a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Also making moves overseas is the song Beama by Shenseea featuring Lola Brooke, which moves up from #38 to #35 on the German R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

Meanwhile, No Love dubplate by Trinidadian reggae artiste Queen Omega, featuring Little Lion Sound, moves into the #2 spot. The dubplate, which has been released as a single, went viral last year and this caught the attention of RCA Records, which released it for the international market.

Over on the Nigeria Hot 100 chart, the remix of Drift by Teejay and Davido dips from #67 to #81 in its third week.

On the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers remain at #1 with Legend for a 209th non-consecutive week.

Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy is steady at #2, so too is Sean Paul at #3 with Dutty Classics Collection. Sean Paul also holds down the #4 spot with his Grammy-winning Dutty Rock album.

Greatest Hits by UB40 is at #5, while Stick Figure has a lock on #6, #7 and #8 with World on Fire, Set in Stone and Wisdom.

Masicka’s Generation of Kings is firm at #9 while Byron Messia’s No Love is #10.

Teejay’s Drift continues to lose steam on the Billboard R&B airplay charts. On R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, the song backtracks from #40 to #43, while on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop, it slides down from #29 to #33.

Over on Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay, Drift falls from #33 to #36.

On regional charts, Diamonds are Forever by Grub Cooper clocks a second week at the top of the South Florida Reggae chart, while Statue of a Fool by Richie Stephens steps up from #5 to #3.

Meanwhile, Mykal Rose improves from #8 to #5 with Brutal.

Statue of a Fool by Richie Stephens spends another week in the #1 spot on the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart. All and All by Tanto Metro and Devonte darts from #11 to #7.

Shuga’s cover of Prince’s Do Me Baby (#29) and Kevoy Clarke’s Hold You Close (#30) are this week’s new entries.
