Gayle bats for Windies cricketers
Former
cricketer-turned-artiste Chris Gayle might be busy in the recording booth but he’s still lending some of his time to assist West Indies cricketers who have fallen on hard times.
His latest project is being at the Charity Legends Gala, courtesy of the Lawrence Rowe Legendary Cricket Foundation in Fort Lauderdale, to help the cause.
“Well, Sir Lawrence Rowe and I are both Jamaicans and have both made a triple century in a Test match. So, when I heard he was doing a fund-raiser to help West Indies cricketers who have hit hard economic times I jumped at the opportunity to give back and participate in this initiative,” he told the
Jamaica Observer.
Gayle will be donating memorabilia to help raise revenue for the fund.
Besides his altruistic efforts, Gayle is cooking up a new album that will feature international sensations.
“This year, I’m working alongside Contractor Music for another compilation album which will include tracks from Chris Brown and Sean Kingston, amongst others. This album is the
Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica: The Middle East Edition. So, my producer, Camar Flave, will make sure there is a banger from the ‘Universe Boss’ on the album,” he explained.
Back in December 2022 Gayle broke the ice for his music career in Asian market when he headline the
Tropical House Cruises To Jamaica: The Asian Edition. At the time, he said the momentum he gained from this project has steered his career in the right direction.
Having spent most of his years as a sportsman, Gayle noted that his appreciation for music artistry helped his transition into the industry.
“Music is such a release for me. I like to go to major events and have a good time, which is therapy for me because of my heavy work schedule. So, transforming into an artiste was a natural progression for me because of my passion for music,” he told the
Observer.
