Irwin avenge loss to Cambridge

ST JAMES, Jamaica — Newcomers Irwin United scored their first win of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International League on Saturday when they avenged a first round loss to Cambridge United with a 2-0 win at the UDC Field.

Irwin United had lost the first game 2-1 but got the better of Cambridge United to move off the foot of Zone B, ahead of Montego Bay Boys Club, both teams being on four points.

At Granville, Zone A leaders Flankers and Granville United played out a 2-2 draw after they had finished 0-0 in the first round.

Shaquiel James gave Irwin United the lead in the 28th minute and Detroy Reid scored his third of the season, in the 89th minute to secure their first victory.

Flanker United who lead with 12 points, came from behind twice to earn a draw with Granville United who are a point behind.
