YG is 5th Marley to hit Billboard Hot 100 chart

As the song Praise Jah in the Moonlight by YG Marley, son of Rohan Marley and singer Lauryn Hill, continues to make its presence felt on several charts globally, the song has entered the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart in America.

Praise Jah in the Moonlight débuts at #74, making YG the fifth member of the Marley family to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

Here’s a quick recap of the other members of the Marley family to have charted.

Bob Marley scored his sole entry in 1976 when Roots Rock Reggae topped out at #51.

Twelve years later, led by his son Ziggy, the sibling outfit Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers stalled at #39 with Tomorrow People. Three years later the group returned with Good Time at #85.

In 1997, Ky-mani Marley was featured on Avenues by Refugee Camp All Stars with Pras, which rose to #35.

YG’s uncle, Damian Marley, took Welcome to Jamrock to #55 in 2005, but he returned in 2017 on Bam by Jay-Z which shot to #47.

Praise Jah in the Moonlight rises from #55 to #33 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, while on the UK Singles chart the song jumps from #51 to #20 in its third week.

In Ireland, the song shoots up from #49 to #25 on the Irish Singles chart, while on the Dutch Top 100, it rises from #60 to #27.

And, finally, on the Billboard New Zealand Top 40, Praise Jah in the Moonlight dethrones Jack Harlow’s Lovin on Me from the #1 spot.

Trinidad and Tobago gospel artiste Sherwin Gardner débuts at #23 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart with Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me). The song stays firm at #2 on the Gospel Digital Song Sales chart, while on the US Afrobeats Songs chart, it moves up from #22 to #18.

Teejay’s Drift lifts from #71 to #51 in its seventh week on the Nigeria Hot 100 chart. Over on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop chart, the song inches up to a new peak at #28.

On R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Drift improves moving from #36 to #33.

Moving now to the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, RIP Fake Friends by Josemar is still #1.

Over to the South Florida Reggae chart, Statue of a Fool by Richie Stephens spends a third week at #1, while Switch on You by Romain Virgo improves #7 to #5.

Hold You by Kevoy Clarke inches up from #16 to #15, Ginjah moves up two places to #19.

The sole début is Blind Spot by Ambelique at #24.

On the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart, Niceness by Marcia Griffiths continues to dominate the #1 spot.

All and All by Tanto Metro and Devonte is #3, Bashan (The Lord Says) by Ginjah is #14, while the new entries are Phyllis Dillon Tribute by Da Flame (25), Solidarity by David Hinds (29), and Soul Power by The Blackstones (#30).

Moving now to the streaming and sales-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart: Bob Marley and the Wailers lead with Legend clocking 212 weeks at #1.

Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy inches up to #2, with Dutty Classics Collection by Shaggy sliding down to #3.

Greatest Hits by UB40 remains at #4, while Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock revisits the chart at #5.

World on Fire, Set in Stone and Wisdom by Stick Figure are #6, #7 and #8.

Gold by Bob Marley and the Wailers returns at #9 and Damian Marley’s Grammy-winning Welcome to Jamrock is #10.
