Competitive-looking Lindy Delapehna Memorial Trophy
Eight runners are down to compete for top honours in the renewal of the $1.25-million Lloyd Linbergh ‘Lindy’ Delapehna Memorial Trophy feature race on tomorrow’s nine-race card, an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over one mile (1,600m).
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at each runner and their chances of winning.
1. I REALISE: (5 b g by Northern Giant – Regina Royale) – Finished 22 lengths in fifth position behind Is That A Fact over one mile on January 27.
I Realise takes a drop in class to compete here and should run an improved race among these.
2.FURTHER AND BEYOND: (6 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble) – Former Horse of the Year who is slowly but surely finding in footing.
Further and Beyond came home in third position behind Sistren Treasure, Sonny T and Chippy over tomorrow’s distance on December 16, 2023.
Further and Beyond has been training fairly well since and could secure a win here.
3. REGAL AND ROYAL : (6 b h by Soul Warrior – Wap) – Has no realistic chance of winning this one. Regal and Royal should be left behind in this one.
4. BABYLIKE: (5 dkb m by Savoy Stomp – Ladylike) – Has been doing fairly well in her races since coming at the level.
Babylike is expected to continue earning for her connections here.
5. SUNSET SILHOUTTE: (5 b m by Northern Giant – Ahwhofah) – Has been thereabout in her races.
Sunset Silhoutte has been promising for some time now but failed to ignite any spark so far. She is not expected to win here.
6.D HEAD CORNERSTONE: (5 b h by Bern Identity – Soul Of The Soul) – Finished a creditable third behind Neo Star and Sensational Move over nine furlongs and 25 yards on January 1.
D Head Cornerstone should be comfortable at this distance and among these and challenge for top honours here.
7.DIVINE FORCE (USA): (4 b c by Alternation – Dance America ) – A winner over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) by 5 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:32.2 on December 30. Based on that effort,
Divine Force should be competitive here.
8.POSITIVE ID: (6 b h by Bern Identity – Bubble Gal Bubble) – Has no form to recommend here.
