Three centuries but bowlers also excel in midweek Headley Cup

ALL-ROUNDER Orjay Whittingham hit 127 and grabbed three wickets for three runs as Dinthill Technical dominated Tacius Golding High in the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/Grace Headley Cup at Windalco Sports Club on Wednesday, winning by 190 runs.

Batting first, Dinthill made 204-9 declared as Whittingham led the way with the bat. Off-spinner Michael Peterson took seven for 101 for Tacius Golding High.

Dinthill’s fast bowler Jemone James then took six wickets for seven runs with support from Whittingham’s medium pace as Tacius Golding were blown away for 14 runs in just eight overs.

At Content Gardens, Tacky High beat Old Harbour High by 257 runs. Tyson Gordon stroked 102 not out, Jevere Green 91, Marlon Williams 42, and Aan Ennis 28 not out as Tacky High piled up 292-2 declared.

Fast bowler Jevone Wynter took four wickets for six runs, and slow left-arm orthodox bowler Demareo Newton took three wickets for four runs as Old Harbour High were bowled out for 37.

At Glenmuir High, visitors May Day High easily defeated the home side by 213 runs in yet another lopsided contest.

Chadwick Howell made 111 and Captain Christopher Lewis, 71 as May Day High rushed to 248-2.

Lewis, twirling his off breaks, then took six wickets for four runs as Glenmuir were skittled for 35.

At Manchester High the home side beat Black River High by 91 runs. Matthew Morgan led the batting with 79 and got support from Demario Hall (43) as Manchester High reached 187-7 declared.

Seamer Kelon Jones then took five for 18 for Manchester High as Black River High replied with 96 all out. Davian Mason, who had earlier taken three wickets for 52 runs with his leg spin, top-scored for Black River High with 32.

At the STETHS Sports Complex defending champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) beat Munro College by 105 runs. STETHS made 197-6 declared; Munro was 92 all out.

At Sir P Oval, Denbigh High beat Claude McKay High by 86 runs. Denbigh High, 131-9 declared; Claude McKay High, 45 all out.

At Titchfield High the home team beat Charlemont High by 126 runs. Titchfield High made 160 all out, with Xaviour Marshall hitting a top score of 71.

Marshall followed up with five for nine, bowling medium pace, and fellow medium pacer Brian Williams took four for six as Charlemont were bowled out for 34.

At Garvey Maceo High the home team played to a draw with Vere Technical. Garfield Tomlinson led the way with 123 as Garvey Maceo High made 165 all out.

Vere Technical reached 84 for three wickets when stumps were drawn. Adrian Weir top-scored with 37.

At Glenmuir High on Monday, February 5, the home team played to a draw with Clarendon College. Krishmar Sawyers hit 63 as Glenmuir reached 152 all out. Clarendon College reached 52 for three when play ended.
