53-y-o man charged for allegedly breaking into a sports bar in Ocho Rios
ST ANN, Jamaica – The St Ann Police have apprehended and charged a 53-year-old man for his alleged involvement in a recent shop breaking and larceny at a sports bar on Main Street, Ocho Rios, in the parish.
He is Oniel Graham, of Buckfield, Ocho Rios, a painter.
The incident, which occurred on January 30, 2024, at approximately 3:00 am. According to reports the bar owner received a notification on his phone from the security cameras linked to his business place. Upon reviewing the footage, he saw a man inside the venue.
He promptly alerted the police, who, upon arrival, discovered that the suspect had used a building block to break through the front glass and gain unauthorised entry into the bar. Several items were reported stolen from the premises.
Following the investigation, Graham was taken into custody and subsequently provided a caution statement to the police, confessing to his involvement in the crime.
Graham is set to face legal proceedings for his alleged actions at a later date.
“The St Ann police commend the swift collaboration between the community and law enforcement, emphasising the importance of community vigilance in combating crime. They reassure the public of their ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and businesses in the communities,” a statement from the constabulary’s Corporate Communication Unit read on Friday.
