Flanker United look to wrap up zone honours
FLANKER, St James — Flanker United could secure Zone A honours in the St James Football Association/ Sandals Resorts International Major League today with a win over Wadada United in a return-round game at Flanker, starting at 3:30 pm.
Flanker United secured a place in the semi-final last week after beating Heights FC 2-0 and leads with 15 points and another win today would put them out of reach of the other teams in the zone.
Wadada United are coming off a draw against Green Pond High, their first point of the season and will hope to avenge their first-round 3-1 loss but could find the going against Flanker United tough.
In another game today, Lilliput Rovers are facing a tough task as they seek to secure a place in the semi-finals when they take on Reggae Youths, who have already secured Zone B honours, at the UDC field.
Lilliput Rovers are coming off a loss to Cambridge United last week and needs to win today, if they are to take control of their own fate in the race for the semi-finals.
Lilliput Rovers, who just missed making it to the semi-finals last season, are in third place on nine points, three behind Cambridge United, who have played a game more.
Reggae Youths meanwhile are going after a seventh-straight win and after winning their first-round meeting, would put a big dent in Lilliput Rovers’ chances of advancing.
