EPL: Liverpool – Man City in mouth-watering clash at Anfield

JustBet offers Liverpool at odds of $2.90 to beat Man City

The top three teams in the English Premier League (EPL) will all be in action this weekend in what is shaping up to be an exciting set of matches.

Third-placed Arsenal have the easier task of jumping to the top of the league when they host struggling Brentford at home on Saturday. Then on Sunday, it’s the big one as leaders Liverpool and defending league champions Manchester City collide in a monstrous game that will go a long way in deciding which team lifts the title at the end of May.

Event # 1 – EPL – Arsenal vs Brentford – 12:30 PM

Third-placed Arsenal will be aiming to make it eight straight wins in the league, and in the process move to the top when they host struggling Brentford.

Arsenal are in red-hot form at the moment shooting down all and sundry that come across their path in recent time. They enter this match off the back of a 6-0 demolition of Sheffield United on Monday, following 5-0 and 4-1 wins over Burnley and Newcastle, respectively.

The Gunners created history on Monday when they defeated Sheffield United, after becoming the first team in English football to score five or more away goals on three consecutive occasions.

Brentford will travel to the Emirates following a 2-2 draw against Chelsea in their last game, coming after a 4-2 hammering at the hands of West Ham, which followed a 1-0 loss at Manchester City and a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Liverpool.

The Brentford team and fans alike must be fearing the worst heading to an Arsenal side that have been scoring goals for fun and are playing the best football in the league. Brentford’s chances of securing a result against this in-form Arsenal are highly unlikely as they haven’t defeated Arsenal since their first game back in the Premier League in 2021; since then, Arsenal have defeated them four times and drawn once.

KEY STATS

Arsenal – have won their last five league matches and have scored 21 goals during this magnificent run.

Brentford – are winless in their last five away games against Arsenal and have lost three of their last five league games.

Both sides – Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four matches against Brentford.

The Betting Tip – Arsenal Win.

Event # 2 EPL – Liverpool vs Man City – 10:45 AM

The stage is now set for a blockbuster showdown at Anfield on Sunday when League leaders Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City come face to face.

This season’s title race has been tight since the start of the season, and every game is now a must win for the top three sides, as Liverpool lead the standing with 63 points, followed by City with 62, and Arsenal with 61 points.

For Liverpool, a win means a four-point lead over their closest rival; for City, a win, means leapfrogging Liverpool heading into the homestretch. Arsenal are probably hoping for a draw which would put them in the driver’s seat for the run to the title.

Liverpool are in excellent form at the moment, they haven’t dropped a single point since their 3-1 loss at Arsenal in early February, even though they have been struck with a multitude of injuries to key players.

The Reds have won their last five league matches and claimed their first title of the season when they defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley last weekend.

Much like Liverpool, Manchester City have been in sizzling form recently, winning nine of their last 10 games, only dropping points against Chelsea in a 1-1 stalemate. While Liverpool have won their last five league games, City have won four and drawn one of their last five, but they enter this clash after a 3-1 win over their city rivals Manchester United.

This match is just not a regular Premier League game, it’s a philosophical clash, a battle of wits between two of the games greatest mind’s. Jurgen Klopp’s Gegen press, like a relentless wave crashing against a ship, will collide with Guardiola’s possession-based symphony, a meticulously constructed orchestration with intricate passing to bypass the suffocation pressing of Liverpool.

KEY STATS

Liverpool – are unbeaten in their last 22 matches at Anfield in all competition’s and have won their last seven home matches.

Manchester City – have drawn four of their last six Premier League matches against the ‘big six” sides this season. However, they are unbeaten in their last 15 leagues games.

Both sides – since 2020, both teams have met 11 times, with City winning four and Liverpool three times, the others ending in stalemates. When both teams met earlier this season at the Etihad it ended 1-1.

The Betting Tip – Liverpool win.
