KINGSTON, Jamaica – In honour of the 75th anniversary of women in the Jamaica Constable Force (JCF), Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson, honoured 17 trailblazing women with the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence at the ‘PowHer Up’ Marketplace and Cocktail event on Friday, March 8.

The Commissioner’s Award of Excellence was presented to women who have been going beyond the call of duty, leading community initiatives and doing their part in making Jamaica a safer place.

This award was given to Sergeant Sherene Chambers, Sergeant Anniska Flannigan, Constable Ronnette Allen-Stewart and Constable Tajaria Lewis for their exceptional work on the frontline.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Chantel Myers, Sergeant Crystal Morgan, Constable Shaunakaye Bogle, and Claudia Baugh received recognition for their remarkable contributions toward driving transformation and development within the Force.

Additionally, Corporal Julian Martin-Findley and Detective Constable Donea Phillips were acknowledged for their commendable efforts in criminal investigations.

In the category of community development and the delivery of quality service, Sergeant Lorna West Small, Constable Jayann Raymond, and Sergeant Shereen Wright were presented with well-deserved awards.

Meanwhile, Corporal Arlene McBean, the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Police Federation, was acknowledged for her advocacy and representation. She continues to serve the Federation in the capacity of General Secretary.

The final category saw the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence being handed to Detective Sergeant Sasha-Gay Mullings, Corporal Kayla Keane, and Constable Shayon Francis for their excellent service in communications and as ambassadors of brand JCF.

“Receiving the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence is truly humbling. I was quite surprised, so it reaffirms the importance of our work within the JCF, both locally and internationally. This recognition serves as a motivation to remain committed and dedicated to my roles, striving to continue making positive impacts on law enforcement. It’s not just a personal achievement but a celebration of the collaborative efforts of all the outstanding women in the force,” expressed Detective Sergeant Mullings.”

Also, prominent journalist long-standing partner of the JCF, Fae Ellington, was specially acknowledged by the commissioner for her mentorship and consistent support in advancing policewomen through capacity development initiatives.

Nevertheless, the JCF said it will continue to recognise the “invaluable contributions” of its women, who have shattered barriers and laid a foundation for future generations of policewomen through year-long celebrations.
