Within the past year, TikTok has become a hub for beauty and skincare trends, and among them at-home waxing kits.

The kits, though not intended to replace professional waxing, are an alternative for times when you miss your appointment, or can’t make it to the salon.

And while the trend gained popularity on TikTok, we actually noticed local hair removal company Her Secret Limited on Instagram. The feed is practically a one-stop shop for DIY-waxing tips.

Helmed by Shannel Foote, Her Secret Limited was born, she admits through frustration. Foote, who sufferes from the hormonal condition polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), says she started her business in 2020, after a futile search for hair removal products safe for use on women with PCOS. “I started by selling intimate care products when I discovered a non-toxic solution that improved my hair-removal routine,” she tells Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD).

The personal care enthusiast, who holds a BSc in Marketing, launched her Instagram page and e-commerce site shophersecrets.com in 2022, introducing aestheticians and DIY-ers to three hard wax beads — Coco-Pearls, Clear, and Pinkini — three unique microwaveable formulas that are hypoallergenic, vegan, copolymer-free, paraben-free and melt at very low temperature.

The 600-gram and 1 kilogram containers are packaged for professional use, while the 100-gram retail kits are marketed for use at home. And for those pesky bumps, and irritation that can arise after waxing, Foote created the ultimate after-care essentials: the First Aid Gel and the Ingrown Epilixir Oil.
