#Champs2024: KC’s Rose, Glasgow safely through to Class 1 boys’ 400m semis
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Kingston College pair of Marcinho Rose and Amal Glasgow are on the hunt for a one-two finish in the Class 1 boys’ 400m, after easing into the next round of the Class 1 boys’ 400m at the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Rose, who is the fastest overall competitor in the event this year, cruised to a time of 48.13 seconds, crossing the line ahead of Vere Technical’s Jamaal Bryan (49.17) and Ainsley Brown of Port Antonio High (49.47).
Meanwhile, Glasgow comfortably ran a time of 48.12 seconds to win heat two. He finished ahead of Shoy Clayton of Petersfield High (48.91), Cornwall College’s Mario Birch (49.61) and Oshane Lewars of Clarendon College (50.18).
From heats three and four, Maggotty High’s Zachary Wallace (48.67), St Mary High’s Delroy Hall (49.36), St Jago High’s Devounie Williams (49.48), Omary Robinson of Jamaica College (JC/48.86) and Omar Jones of Vere Technical (50.09) have punched their tickets to the next round.
Also securing a spot in the semi-finals are Daniel Francis of Alphansus Davis (49.14), JC’s Devonrick Mac (49.16), Clarendon College’s Roland Smith (49.79) and Alrick Wisdom of Edwin Allen High (50.01), all from heat five.
Heat six’s Joshua Wint of William Knibb (49.39), Lacovia High’s Nicholas Blair (49.45) and Deshaun Gordon of St Jago High (49.76), and heat seven’s Seanpaul Simmonds (49.33), Shaque Shand of Excelsior High (49.46) and Calabar’s Durville Jackson (49.87) have qualified.
Edwin Allen’s Ryheem Mighten (49.15) and St Elizabeth Technical’s Lushane Blake (49.54) round out the top qualifiers from heat eight.
The Class 1 boys’ 400m final is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 10:35am.
