Blitz Strike a winner after five starts
Blitz Strike (Wannabeaplayer—Verify), after five career starts, was able to find the winning post in front in a maiden condition race for native-bred four-year-olds and upward over seven furlongs on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Blitz Strike broke off well when the starter pushed the go button, settling in third place behind Atomic Energy (Shane Richardson) and Lambo Girl (Richard Henry).
The Marlon Pusey-trained Blitz Strike continued to race prominently behind the leaders down the backstretch until jockey Reyan Lewis asked the four-year-old dark brown/bay gelding to increase the tempo going into the half-mile turn.
Blitz Strike hit the front full of running at the top of the lane and looked strong on the front end.
Although he was challenged by Bad Investment (Robert Halledeen), who came with a run in deep stretch, Blitz Strike was not for catching, winning by 4 lengths at the wire.
Bad Investment was second, and Dimetry P (Tevin Foster) finished third in a final time of 1:32.4 (24.1 x 49.2 x 1:16.1).
