Exciting career start by Unruly Don
With the native-bred three-year-old Classic series of races on the horizon, bay colt Unruly Don showed himself as a possible contender following his noteworthy debut win on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Bred by Savoy Stomp out of Lady Mandi, Unruly Don was victorious in a maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-olds at six furlongs. He won by 3 ½ lengths in a time of 1:17.2 (24.1 x 49.0).
With Robert Halledeen riding for owner/trainer Oral Hayden, Unruly Don battled with
Affair (Reyan Lewis) at the start of the race before taking control approaching the half-mile.
Unruly Don maintained a steady gallop while navigating the turn and brought the field into the lane at a merry clip.
Unruly Don turned on the pressure in a deep stretch and rolled over nicely to win with ease.
Affair finished second, followed by Rock-Ola (Tevin Foster).
“I have him [ Unruly Don] as a Classic horse,” Hayden told the Jamaica Observer’s
The Supreme Racing Guide.
“I know he was short of work and wasn’t ready to race yet, but because the Classic races are coming up shortly, I decided to give him a run and see what happens.
“I was very pleased with the performance. He ran a very good race, and Halledeen rode a very good race as well. I am going to see how he comes out of the race and take it from there,” he added.
