Of all the countries he has performed in, Trinidad and Tobago is special for Glen Washington. The singer says he has a ball each time he visits the twin-island republic.

He returns there this weekend (April 13-14) for One Love The Experience, a show at Queens Park Savannah in Port of Spain.

Known for songs like Kindness for Weakness and Jah Glory, it is his first show there in seven years. Washington first performed in T&T during the late 1990s, and has visited several times since.

Each time, he feels the love from the ‘Trinis’.

“The people are very receptive, I always love going to Trinidad because there’s good vibes. Sometimes they ask for songs I don’t usually perform, but I do them because you have to please the fans,” he said.

In 2017 when he last performed in Trinidad, Washington did so along with Beres Hammond and Bushman at the Queens Park Savannah. This time around, Bushman, Louie Culture and Warrior King are on the bill, as well as native sons, Jamelody, Brandon Striker and Isasha.

Washington will be accompanied on One Love The Experience by his five-piece band and three harmony singers.

Glen Washington has been an active artiste/musician since the early 1970s when he doubled as a drummer and singer for bands like The Titans in Kingston.

He had a breakout year in 1999 with Brother to Brother, an album produced by the legendary Clement ‘Coxson’ Dodd for the Studio One label.

That set produced hit singles like the title song and Prisoner of Love.

Brother to Brother was followed by another successful partnership with Florida-based producer Lloyd Campbell which yielded the hit singles, Kindness For Weakness and Jah Glory.
