North Coast Comedy and Food Festival to delight
A galore of comedians are set to line up on the inaugural North Coast Comedy and Food Festival, which takes place Sunday at Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios.
But it is also serious business for promoter Leon “Lemon” Parkins.
A veteran comedian and actor is among multiple acts on the card.
While he has promoted the Lemon and Friends show for many years in different parishes, the North Coast Comedy and Food Festival is his biggest venture yet.
“This is different because it’s not di usual people who yuh see all di time. Dem [fans] going to si some fresh comedian who crazy funny,” he promised attendees.
Fellow veteran Sammy Question, Chris The Entertainer, Dufton Shepherd, and American Drew Thomas are some of the comics on the show. They will be complemented by recording artistes Vershon and Professor Nuts.
Children aged three to 12 will be admitted free. At the end of the day-long show, they are presented with gift packages.
“Dem haffi leave wid supn! Mi love children, yuh nuh, when my son bawl me bawl to,” he said.
The St Mary-born Parkins has been doing professional comedy and theatre for 30 years.
He has appeared in several roots plays, including More Passa Passa, Bad Mind, and Watchman Parts 1 and 2.
