31 athletes named for World Athletics Relays team set for The Bahamas

KINGSTON, Jamaica — World Championships relay medallists Ackeem Blake and Ryiem Forde as well as Kemba Nelson and Alana Reid have been included on the Jamaican team that will represent Jamaica at the World Athletics Relays set for The Bahamas early next month.

Thirty-one athletes have been named on the team that will compete in the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m and the Mixed 4x400m relays team in the two-day Championships that will see teams earn qualifying points towards the Olympic Games set for Paris in July/August.

Blake and Forde are the only men from the sprint relay team that won the bronze medal at last year’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary and they will be joined by Kadrian Goldson who was part of the relay squad then, as well as Nigel Ellis and Bryan Levell who ran a personal best 10.16 seconds at a meet in Florida on Saturday.

Reid, the fastest woman over the 100m so far this year after she ran 11.09 seconds last weekend, and Nelson, who ran a season’s best 11.15 seconds, are in the pool that includes Natasha Morrison, Jodean Williams and Remona Burchell.

World Indoors bronze medallist Rusheen McDonald is part of the men’s 400m pool that will also include Malik James King who has run 45.59 seconds already this season, hurdles specialist Roshawn Clarke, national champion Sean Bailey and Zandrion Barnes who was part of the medal winning men’s 4x400m relay team in Budapest.
