The Queen’s takes ISSA Corporate Area Girls’ Basketball Championship
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Queen’s School won the ISSA Corporate Area High School Girls’ Basketball Championship on Tuesday at the Jamaica College High School.
The Queen’s defeated last year’s winners Camperdown 49-21 in a very entertaining final.
The victory was sweet revenge for The Queen’s who lost to Camperdown in last year’s final of the competition.
The Queen’s was led to victory courtesy of Donae Brown’s 14 points. She received support from Peatri-Ann Buchanan who scored 10 points. Jahnelle Lee top scored for Camperdown with a team high six points.
Camperdown led 8-6 at the end of the first period. However, The Queen’s outscored their opponents 12-8 for a 18-16 at half time. Queens came out blazing in the third quarter of the match as they outplayed them in all areas of the court to take a 32-18 lead.
Scrambling against time, Camperdown played an aggressive fourth quarter but they failed to match the intensity of The Queen’s School who romped to a comfortable victory in the final stanza.
