Two schoolgirls wounded in knife attack in France
FRANCE — An unidentified man reportedly wounded two girls, aged six and 11, in a knife attack close to their school in France.
According to multiple international news sources, the man has since been arrested.
Reports are that the 11-year-old was stabbed outside the school in the town of Souffelweyersheim, while the six-year-old was attacked by the same man in a separate incident close by.
News sources say the attacker did not appear to have any known links to radicals and was not previously known to the security services.
Both girls are being treated at hospital.
Although reports state that there was no indication that the suspect had a link with the school, the attack came amid a series of announcements from Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, outlining measures aimed at cracking down on violence committed by schoolchildren against their peers.
