Kadian Snow makes her mark
The Rasta Farmer — a book by Jamaican author Kadian Snow — has seen major success since its release on Christmas Day last year.
“The Rasta Farmer is currently a #1 best release on Amazon Audible in the ‘biographical fiction for children’ section and was at #2 on the Amazon Best Sellers’ list on Audible on February 17, 2024,” Snow, who resides in New York, told the Jamaica Observer.
Due to the project’s achievement the author has been promoted to work on similar books.
“The Rasta Farmer is the inspiration for my series called Jaylia on the Farm and Lucky on the Farm, which is a story about an autistic girl who is on a quest to save her pig Miracle,” she said.
Snow is a graduate of The University of the West Indies, Mona, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Management Studies.
The children-friendly novel draws inspiration from lives of Snow’s father, Stifford John Snow, a farmer in Coker, St Elizabeth, and her uncle-in-law, Vinrow Small, from St Mary.
The author explained that she wanted to give her father a voice.
“My dad’s story has never been told, so I decided to share the story of my dad through the lens of my creative writing,” she said.
Snow has published multiple other books including Black Woman is Queen: Pamper Up and Silent P.
Her role models include Michael Anthony, J K Rowling, and Oprah Winfrey.
In the meantime, her pen is still at work as she perfects other pieces to be published.
“I am presently working on two novels with co-authors Lloyd M Campbell and Alexander Augustus Bryan. I am expanding my horizons to help publish books for others, as well as let them learn the ropes to self-publish. I hope to help others become their own publisher and author,” Snow said.
