Think I Wanna Marry You
Presenting Mr & Mrs Shevrol Pennicott
Tuesday Style Dryer
April 30, 2024

Think I Wanna Marry You

Is it the look in your eyes or is it this dancing juice?

Who cares, baby, I think I wanna marry you — Bruno Mars, Marry You

“I planned the wedding before I knew who I was going to marry. So when he [Shevrol] approached me in November 2023, everything was ready. I knew who I wanted to do the catering, and I knew which dress I wanted,” senior auditor Siema Walker tells Tuesday Style Vows (TSV).

She and her love Shevrol Pennicott wed in April, at their house of worship, God Family Ministries International, six months after Shevrol first expressed interest in Siema.

A whirlwind romance? Not quite.

Shevrol joined Siema’s church four years ago. The then sailor spent a lot of time at sea and was away from usual church activities for months at a time. It was not until 2023 when Reverend Dr Otis Manning charged Siema with leading the media department that the couple got to know each other. It was a transitional time for Shevrol who had recently resigned from his job at sea with the hopes of finding love and getting married.

“Siema I have to tell you something, I can’t keep it much longer… I am interested in you with the intent of marriage,” said Shevrol during a phone call with Siema in November 2023. She encouraged him to talk to their pastor.

The proposal

“This is a very special and monumental day. Prophetically, on February 14, 2023, I purchased by faith my wedding ring, not knowing who the Lord was going to join me in wedlock with. We’re now in 2024, today is the 13th of February, and in a few short moments, I will be engaged to my beautiful bride Siema. I just want to give God the glory, give him the honour… let’s go!” Shevrol said.

With cameras rolling, Shevrol Pennicott shared his excitement with friend Andray Souden, as they sat in a parked car at Devon House, awaiting an unsuspecting Siema to arrive. The plan was in place. Siema, under the guise of a lunch date with friend Llewanna Simpson, was minutes away.

Shevrol, rose in hand, walked Siema over to his car.

“The trunk was decorated with petals, a huge basket, a gift, and ring. Shevrol then went down on one knee and proposed,” Siema told TSV.

She said yes!

And I’ll say, “I do”

Siema, radiant in a white mermaid gown from La Parisienne, and Shevrol in his Merchant Navy uniform were joined in marriage in front of family and friends on Monday, April 15, 2024. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Percival Palmer. The bridesmaids wore orange and the groomsmen wore black suits with orange ties. I Choose You by Ryann Darling, Siema’s 2024 theme song Find Me Here

(Blessings Find Me) by Sherwin Gardner, and one of the couple’s favourite’s Good Woman by Romaine Virgo were among the special songs played on the big day. After the ceremony, the couple headed to Boone Hall Oasis for a shoot with photographer Andrew Thomas before returning to the church for the reception.

The newly-weds honeymooned at Royal Decameron, Runaway Bay.
