Man charged with rape of stepdaughter in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A 58-year‐old Westmoreland painter has been charged with rape, grievous sexual assault and sexual touching of his stepdaughter.
Observer Online understands that the stepdaughter, who is a student, filed a complaint to the police on April 26. The man was subsequently apprehended at his house and brought into custody.
Reports from the police are that sometime in November and December 2023, the accused inappropriately touched the complainant on her legs as well as kissed her on her lips and her breast.
According to the lawmen, the acts were reportedly repeated between January and February this year.
The complainant is said to have gone to the suspect’s room to return a lighter when he held her down and sexually assaulted her.
A report was subsequently made to the police.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday May 1, 2024, a targeted raid was conducted at the accused house. He was apprehended and transported to the Savanna-la-Mar police station where he was subsequently charged with the offences.
