Producer Rvssian hits several charts with Santa

Jamaican music producer Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston has been on a roll musically over the past year.

While he made his mark in dancehall music circles, Rvssian eventually made the move into the lucrative reggaeton/Latin market producing hits for the likes of Farruko, Rauw Alejandro, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Nicky Jam among others.

Last year Rvssian made a return to the dancehall music scene in a big way when he dropped a re-working of the Go Go Club rhythm, which he retitled Dutty Money rhythm.

A few months ago, Rvssian released Payment Plan rhythm.

Rvssian earns his sixth entry on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart as Santa, featuring Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro and Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, steps up from #40 to #13.

His previous entries on the chart include Krippy Krush with Farruko, Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny, and 21 Savage, which peaked at #5 in 2017. The multi-platinum, Latin-certified
Nostalgico with Rauw Alejandro and Chris Brown got as far as #11 in 2021.

On Billboard’s Latin Streaming Songs chart, Santa becomes the fourth entry for Rvssian as it debuts at #16. On that chart, he got as high as #4 in 2017 with Krippy Krush.

Santa also makes moves on several other charts. On Billboard’s Global Excluding US chart, it enters at #36, and #61 on the Global 200 chart.

Santa debuts at #4, #1, #21, #6, #11, #22, and #3 in Peru, Spain, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, and Ecuador respectively.

Release on April 4 via Sony Music Entertainment US Latin LLC.

Jump by Tyla featuring Gunna and Skillibeng debuts on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart at #10. It has better luck on the US Afrobeats Songs chart, remaining at #3. Over on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart, Jump leaps from #13 to #7 in its 5th week on the chart.

Praise Jah in the Moonlight by YG Marley makes an upward movement on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart, moving from #43 to #41. The song stays put at #28 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart.

Moving now to the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers are #1 for a staggering 224 non-consecutive weeks.

Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection is #2, while Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy is #3. Stick Figure occupies positions #5, #6, and #7, with
World on Fire, Set in Stone and Wisdom.

British reggae band UB40 debuts at #7 with UB45. This is the band’s 15th entry on the chart. That number includes six #1 titles.

Over on the UK Albums chart, UB45 enters at #5, the band’s 34th entry on that tally. UB40 has two #1 titles on that chart, Promises and Lies (1993) and Labour of Love (1983).

Back on the Billboard Reggae table, Bob Marley and the Wailers inch up to #8 with
Exodus, Damian Marley’s Welcome to Jamrock dips to #9, and Kaya by Bob Marley and the Wailers remains at #10.

On regional charts, Shayne Amani, who is originally from Westmoreland and who now resides in Canada, scores his first #1 hit with New Dawning on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart.

Blind Spot by Ambelique spends its third week at #1 on the South Florida Reggae chart.
Love is Blind by JC Lodge and Happy by Inique debut at #s 24 and 25 respectively.

Praise Jah in the Moonlight by YG Marley finally takes over the #1 spot on the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart.

Solid Woman by Morgan Heritage (#28) and Rapha by Carlene Davis (#30) are this week’s new entries.
