Reggae artiste Elihu is on the verge of a musical breakthrough with his latest single, On Your Side of Town, an emotional song where he spills his feelings about human connections and the current state of the world.

“I was inspired to write this song in the time of COVID, at a time when human beings were at their loneliest, cut off from each other, huddled in their houses, hiding from this disease. I was thinking of a song that would reach out, to show sharing and caring, and show that love and humanity conquers all, and that song is still relevant today,” the artiste, whose real name is Errol Courtney Morris, said.

Elihu said that the response to the song has been phenomenal so he has bankrolled a video to help promote the single from the soon-to-be-released album, Broken Silence. The video was released in April.

“The reception has been great and wonderful. I would say the most of the streams and reaction is coming from France,” Elihu said.

The Broken Silence album features 14 tracks with powerhouse singles such as Human Vampire, The Children, Any Little Man, How You Cold So and Treat Her Right.

He has previously released an album called The Evolution of Courtney ‘Elihu’ Morris which is available on I-Tunes and other download platforms.

Elihu was born in Kingston, Jamaica hailing from a humble Christian family. He grew up in Craig Town, and at the age of 10, Courtney discovered his passion for music and started singing at school concerts. After leaving school, he continued to work on his craft.

Known in US music circles as the ‘Prince of Lover’s Rock’, because of his love for reggae love ballads. At the time, his musical influences included The Stylistics, The Impressions, The Chilites, Billy Paul, Smokey Robinson, Ken Booth, Alton Ellis and Bob Marley, to name a few.

As he grew older, Elihu’s grandfather suggested that he change his name to ‘Elihu’ to reflect his move to tackle more pressing socio-political issues in his music.

“Music has always been my passion, and it goes both ways ,because music has also pursued me, so through my journey I always wanted my music and lyrical output to make a difference in people’s lives and give them sustenance and hope,” he said.

Elihu has performed in several countries, but he loves performing on the continent of Africa.

“My special relationship with Africa is that it’s my original home, my motherland, and it is a special feeling to get to celebrate with Mama Africa by performing there,” he said.
