Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston’s Southwest Ranches mansion in Florida was raided early Thursday morning by Broward Sheriff’s deputies and Davie Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), officials reported.

According to a NBC 6 South Florida report, the singer’s mother, 61-year-old Janice Turner, was taken into police custody during the raid.

The home is located in the area of Southwest 146th Avenue and 46th Street.

The report said the raid is in connection to a lawsuit filed by an attorney against Kingston for allegedly not paying for purchased items.

Speaking with the media, attorney Dennis Card said, “He (Kingston) likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman.”

He continued, “My client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about $1 million worth of watches that are in there, there’s a $80,000 custom bed that was ordered. This is an organised systematic fraud.”

Kingston, whose given name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was born in Miami but moved to Jamaica at the age of six where he attended high school in the country before relocating to South Florida.

He had some major hits including his 2007 debut single “Beautiful Girls” and is known for his collaborations with Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy.

The report said officials later confirmed his mother was taken into custody on numerous fraud and theft charges.

Turner, in January 2006, pled guilty to four counts of filing false loan applications and one count of bank fraud involving $132,000 in stolen funds which she was ordered to repay, the NBC 6 South Florida report noted.

She had been sentenced to 16 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
