Mission da Gr81 aims for summer banger with ‘AM to PM’
On AM to PM, his latest song, Mission da Gr81 has a ‘problem’ many men dream of — women calling around the clock to be with them.
The single was released in May by 3354834 Records. It is the Florida-based deejay’s second song for 2024 and he is banking on it to make some noise during the year’s hottest music period.
“I’m definitely looking for that summer club-banger and for people to have a good time,” he said.
AM to PM is the follow-up to Hostage, a song produced by JR Rich. They are part of an aggressive campaign aimed at breaking Mission da Gr81 in the competitive dancehall market.
As he seeks a place on major live shows in Jamaica, the Linstead-born artiste has fine-tuned his stage act in recent months through regular performances at the Fat Cat club in Fort Lauderdale.
“I’m still perfecting my craft but I’ve improved a whole lot and being around the veteran artistes I also learn a lot from them,” Mission da Gr81 stated.
Raised in St Mary, he migrated to the United States during the late 1980s and lived in The Bronx, New York. There, he developed a love for dancehall music and hip hop, and worked on sound systems.
Mission da Gr81’s first songs, Champion and Off The Hook, were released in late 2022.
