Caribbean restaurant in Missouri sets minimum ages for customer
MISSOURI, United States – A Missouri restaurant has reportedly implemented an age policy restricting persons under 30 years old from accessing the eatery.
According to a report from NBC Chicago, Bliss Restaurant, which opened in mid-May, only allows people who meet the set minimum age requirement to enter the establishment. For the owners, female customers must be 30 years old while male customers must be 35 and over.
The restaurant’s owner, assistant manager Erica Rhodes, reportedly explained that the policy may seem harsh, the aim is to attract older customers and avoid potential drama usually brought about by a younger clientele.
“The restaurant is just something for the older people to come do, have a happy hour, come get some good food and not have to worry about some of the young folks who bring some of that drama,” Rhodes said.
According to the NBC Chicago report, customers who appear to be younger than 30 will have to show their IDs to a hostess at the front door or a St Louis County police officer after 7 pm.
The restaurant’s owner, Marvin Pate said while the restaurant has received some backlash, it will be sticking to the policy.
“Of course, we have been getting a little backlash because of our policy, but that’s OK. We’re sticking to our code,” Pate said.
