Lucky football JustBet fan gets first-hand taste of UCL final
‘An experience of a lifetime’ is how Pepetho Barrett, a devoted Real Madrid fan, describes his trip to the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium in London on June 1. This was after he walked away with an all-expenses-paid trip for two courtesy of JustBet and SportsMax.
He departed the Norman Manley Airport on Wednesday, May 29 and was overwhelmed with excitement and anticipation.
“This is such a dream come true for me,” he said. “I am still pinching myself and don’t think I am over the shock. I am so thankful to JustBet and the team.”
JustBet curated a busy schedule for Barrett who saw the sights of the city before taking in the final. Barrett was joined by his dad Pepetho Barrett Sr and fellow winner Keith Dowridge, from Guyana.
But what did Barrett think of the game?
“[It went] just as I predicted it would,” he said. “I am not disappointed, good experience. Evenly contested game. Dortmund dominated the first half but did not translate that into goals. The second half saw Real Madrid taking centre stage and actually scoring goals. Hala Madrid!”
“This match was very special for me, because I am a long-time Real Madrid fan and this is the last match for Toni Kroos. He is a Madrid legend and to retire with a win is so exceptional. I look forward to watching him in the Euro.
“I am ready again. Let’s do this trip again. I think I will continue to bet and bet,” Barrett joked.
Barrett and Dowridge were treated to a first-class menu at the game, which included a wide selection of artisan breads paired with cheese and charcuterie boards, Scottish salmon infused with gin and tonic, London Smokehouse sliced duck, chicken croquette, goat cheese crottin and vegetarian options such as falafel curry.
Prior to getting to the final, the two lucky men went on a guided tour of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and dined at Box Park. They also enjoyed a London Big Bus Tour and visited Hyde Park for paddle boating.
“We are elated to make this dream a reality for two of the many football fans out there,” Supreme Ventures’ head of marketing Kamal Powell said. “Sports betting is our fastest-growing segment at Supreme Ventures and so it made sense for us to enhance our customers’ betting experience by partnering with
SportsMax to offer a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the UCL Final.”
