7th Jamaica Inn Open Backgammon tournament kicks off
ST ANN, Jamaica— The 7th staging of the Jamaica Inn Open Backgammon tournament started Friday night in Ocho Rios, St Ann with a warm-up tournament that separates the seeded from the unseeded players for the main competition on Saturday.
As it has been since inception, the proceeds from the tournament will go towards funding the White River Fish Sanctuary, which aims to conserve, restore, and engage marine life in the Ocho Rios area.
This year’s tournament will be directed by Phil Simborg, the world’s first “Professor of Backgammon”.
Entry fee for the warm-up tournament is US$90 (J$7,500), while the main entry for Saturday’s tournament is US$250 (J$39,000).
There are over $1 million in cash and prizes to be won at the tournament.
