Police constable’s gun stolen, manhunt launched for suspects
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A probe has been launched to recover a service weapon assigned to a constable after it was stolen from her private motor car on Ward Avenue in Mandeville on Wednesday.
Sources told Observer Online that shortly after midday, the constable, who is assigned to the Manchester Police Division, parked her car on Ward Avenue and went into a business establishment. It is reported that when she returned to her vehicle minutes later, she realised that it had been broken into and the service weapon, a Browning pistol with 30 rounds of ammunition, was missing.
Police have since identified suspects in relation to the theft of the firearm. A motor car reportedly used by the suspects was found abandoned in the Corporate Area.
