Mahogany, Is That A Fact set to clash in highly anticipated SVL Anniversary Trophy

The stage is set for an thrilling showdown in the 2024 running of the Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) 23rd Anniversary Trophy, as the well-decorated Mahogany and the talented American-bred
Is That A Fact prepare to face off in an Open Allowance contest.

Scheduled for tomorrow, the highly anticipated race will feature a talented field of three-year-olds and upward vying for a purse of $1.75 million over a distance of 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).

Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at each runner and their chances of winning this major sprint race.

1. MAHOGANY: (7 ch g by Sensational Slam – Mete-Orite) – A seasoned campaigner with a impressive record of 17 wins, seven second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes from 32 career starts with lifetime earnings of $18,731,300.
Mahogany last raced on May 18 in the Seeking My Dream Trophy where he came home in second position by ¾ length over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m).
Mahogany last won a race on November 11, 2023 when beating rivals by a length in the Port Royal Sprint over 6 furlongs (1,200m). This versatile runner has demonstrated his ability to excel in various conditions, making him a formidable opponent in this contest.

2. I AM FRED (USA): (6 b g by Golden Lad – Happy Haliey) – Made a strong seasonal debut on May 25 in the I’msatisfied Trophy over 6 furlongs.
I Am Fred was just beaten by Ability by a short head in a time of 1:12.1.
I Am Fred is good for the run but getting by the top two is going to be a tough task for. I Am Fred is expected to complete the trifecta here.

3. A GIFT FROM BEN : (5 ch m by Here Comes Ben – Sage’s Giftbox
) – Is going to be left behind in this one.

4. JOY IS GOLEN (USA): (4 b f by Goldencents – Sylvan Light) – Did well to reach this class. Joy Is Golden cannot win this race.

5. SENSATIONAL MOVE: (4 ch c by Sensational Slam – Money Move) – Returns to competitive racing from a 126-day break.
Sensational Move is of some ability but he going to need the run here.

6. IS THAT A FACT (USA): (4 b c by Palace Malice – Valid Code) – One of the most improved horses in training at the moment.
Is That A Fact has raced six times this season, winning three of them and finishing second on the other three times.
Is That A Fact finished a good second in the Eros Trophy on June 1, losing out by three parts of a length to two-time Horse of the Year Atomica over 7 furlongs (1,400m). Is That A Fact has shown that he can sprint as well after winning the Reggae Trophy over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight by 2 ½ lengths in 59.2 seconds. With his impressive speed and agility, Is That A Fact pose a significant threat to Mahogany’s chances.
