Mahogany, Is That A Fact to clash in SVL Anniversary Trophy
The well-decorated Mahogany and the talented American-bred Is That A Fact seem well-prepared to face off in what is anticipated to be a thrilling contest in the 23rd running of the $1.75-million Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) Anniversary Trophy this afternoon.
Mahogany, a seasoned campaigner with an impressive record, will be seeking to add another triumph to their already impressive resume. He has a record of 17 wins, seven second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes from 32 career starts with lifetime earnings of $18,731,300.
This versatile runner has demonstrated his ability to excel in various conditions, making him a formidable opponent in this contest.
Meanwhile, Is That A Fact, a gifted American-bred import, will be looking to showcase his skills and potentially pull off an upset victory. With his impressive speed and agility, he poses a significant threat to Mahogany’s chances.
The clash between these two exceptional horses promises to be an exhilarating spectacle, with fans eagerly speculating on the outcome. Will Mahogany’s experience and prowess prevail, or will Is That A Fact’s fresh talent and enthusiasm prove victorious? The answer will be revealed today.
The Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over five and a half furlongs (1,100m) is positioned as the eighth event on the 10-race card with a post time of 4:25 pm. First race is at high noon.
Mahogany, trained by Ian Parsard, last raced on May 18 in the Seeking My Dream Trophy where he came home in second position by ¾ length over seven and a half furlongs (1,500m). Mahogany was 5 lengths in front in deep stretch before he gave way to Further and Beyond close home. Mahogany last won a race on November 11, 2023 when beating rivals by a length in the Port Royal Sprint over six furlongs (1,200m).
Is That A Fact is without a doubt one of the most improved horses in training at the moment. The Jason DaCosta trainee has raced six times this season, winning three of them and finishing second on the other three times.
Is That A Fact finished a good second in the Eros Trophy on June 1, losing out by three parts of a length to two-time Horse of the Year
Atomica over seven furlongs (1,400m). Is That A Fact has shown that he can sprint as well after winning the Reggae Trophy over five furlongs (1,000m) straight by 2 ½ lengths in 59.2 seconds.
Of the other runners in the six-horse field only I Am Fred seems the likely one to spilt or upset the two here.
Also trained by DaCosta, I Am Fred made a strong seasonal debut on May 25 in the I’msatisfied Trophy over six furlongs. The American-bred runner was just beaten by Ability by a short head in a time of 1:12.1. I Am Fred is good for that run and could impact in a big way here.
