Montego Bay Jerk Fest set for 15th staging on August 1
ST JAMES, Jamaica— The popular Montego Bay Jerk Fest has reached a milestone with the 15th staging slated to take place on August 1.
The event will be held at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay, St James where patrons are expected to benefit from the culinary delights of Jamaican cuisine.
This year’s event promises an extraordinary celebration of food, music and culture according to public relations officer for the group, Jolene Longman-Boreman following its press launch on Wednesday.
“As the premier jerk and food festival in the region, it will continue to attract thousands of locals and tourists alike, eager to indulge in Jamaica’s finest culinary offerings and entertainment,” she remarked.
President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Oral Heaven, also praised the event for its impact on the local economy over the years.
“The significance of this event extends far beyond its culinary delights. It’s a powerful economic driver for local businesses. Vendors, chefs, you name it, they have a platform to showcase their products, reach new customers and increase their revenue from being a part of this festival,” he said.
“The ripple effect on local businesses cannot be overstated. Restaurants, hotels, shops, taxi drivers, tour operators all benefit from the influx of visitors,” Heaven continued.
He insisted that the festival creates jobs, stimulates the local economy and fosters a sense of pride in our community.
He also lauded the festival for the family atmosphere that has been a major pull for patrons over the years.
“This is an invaluable contributor to family outings. In an age where digital distractions are rampant, this festival offers the space where families can come together, share a meal and create lasting memories,” Heaven said.
In regards to entertainment, Montego Bay Jerk Fest is set to be headlined by a number of young acts including Rajah Wild, Kraft, JQuan, Kaka High Flames among others.
