An all-rounder who has played various roles in the music industry, Donovan “Conscious” Anderson recently formalised his functions with the launch of Conscious International Productions.

The fledgling company covers artiste bookings and event productions, areas Anderson has developed expertise over the past 20 years.

During that period he has been a senior production member for major events such as Rebel Salute, Red Rose For Gregory, and St Mary Mi Come.

Anderson’s familiarity with artistes has helped expand his network to show promoters abroad, several of whom reached out for his assistance in snaring acts for their events.

“Somebody will contact you and know that you are familiar with the artiste. I will call the artiste, find out if they are available for the dates, tell them what the promoter is offering or what they [artiste] are asking for, and we take it from there,” Anderson explained.

Sizzla, Natty King, Luciano, Big Youth, Leroy Sibbles, and Lieutenant Stitchie are some of the artistes he has booked for gigs locally and abroad.

Anderson, who is from East Kingston, started his music career as an artiste. He recorded songs for different producers including Earl “Chinna” Smith and Henry “Junjo” Lawes before moving into show production in the early 2000s.

“I fell in love with the production side of things an’ start working with people like Kings Of Kings [Productions]. Is just something I find fascinating an’ I began learning along the way,” said Anderson.

Conscious International Productions is also involved in music production. Among its first projects are songs by Canada-based singjay Lazah Current.
