FitMeals and More: Healthy and Delicious Innovatively Fused

FitMeals and More is a health-focused restaurant that champions the concept of fusing nutritious and delicious eating. Founded with a passion for food and promoting wellness through food, FitMeals was created to provide a healthy meal option for people on the go! The journey began with Tanya Ramson, who studied culinary arts and management, and who understood the profound impact of food on health and well-being. Despite her expertise, Ramson also struggled with weight loss for some time, which fuelled her determination to create a solution for herself and others facing similar challenges.

FitMeals’ humble beginnings trace back to her back patio which was transformed into a kitchen where she first started preparing meals for delivery.

As demand grew, she saw the need for extra hands. She hired the very first member of the team, Abigail Boyde, who contributed so much to the growth of the business and is still with the FitMeals team, reflective of its ethos and strong focus on consistency and customer service.

The operation then moved to a small kitchen space in Seymour Park, offering takeout and delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. The popularity of the healthy and flavourful meals then led to the establishment of a permanent location at 80 Lady Musgrave Road. This would allow Ramson and her team to also offer dine-in service, providing an even more engaging and enjoyable experience for their customers. FitMeals’ popularity continued to grow due to its commitment to quality and innovation. Each dish is meticulously crafted to ensure it meets high nutritional standards while delighting the palate. The restaurant offers a diverse range of meals daily, including options for various dietary preferences and restrictions; including a high protein and low carbohydrate (HPLC) option. Fellow judge, Patricia Henry also joined in for lunch.

On The Menu:

•Goat soup

•Grilled chicken/pork quesadilla

•Chicken/shrimp oriental salad (including red onion, lettuce, kale, cucumber, red cabbage, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, bean sprouts, pak choi) with sesame ginger dressing

•Jerk chicken

Accompanying sides included: brown rice and peas or roasted sweet potato.

All the dishes were flavourful and the prescribed healthy serving portions were adhered to, which we paired with kombucha. The dishes did not disappoint.

•The jerk chicken serving with a side of sweet potato was extremely tender and done in a special sauce, that had us wanting more.

•The shrimp oriental salad was a hit with Ramson’s special dressing recipe.

•The chicken quesadillas were just the right serving and more-ish.

•Food Awards judge Patricia Henry could not stop raving about the goat soup, the flavour reminiscent of that done on a coal stove.

Ramson also surprised us with the infamous yam salad done like no other. This is one of my favourite sides. Iced blue spirulina lattes made with oat milk brought our meal to a formidable close. We were in food heaven! We observed a steady flow of patrons picking up their orders, who did not have to wait for long on their meals. FitMeals is another healthy, delicious, and affordable meal alternative in Kingston. Ideal for those on the go as well as those opting to dine in and experience efficient service. The food and customer service speak for themselves and come highly recommended.
