JAAA signs deal with Supreme Ventures
JAMAICA Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) President Garth Gayle is appreciative of Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) following the signing of a $25-million five-year sponsorship deal with the betting company on Wednesday.
Kamal Powell, head of marketing at SVL, presented the company’s cheque to Gayle during a media briefing at JAAA’s office in Kingston on Wednesday.
Gayle noted that his organisation is very delighted SVL has decided to continue its support of JAAA and said they are looking forward to a great partnership in the years to come.
“We are very elated and we are happy,” said Gayle. “This is a company that stands by their belief in the country, and we are very proud that we are partnering once again for another five years. We are going to continue to work with Supreme Ventures to the best of our abilities as they help to promote the sport of track and field in Jamaica.”
The JAAA’s boss also stressed the need for more corporate sponsors to come on board and support his organisation. According to Gayle, it takes a lot of money to run the association, and therefore he would welcome any additional sponsors.
“We have large overheads because we have our technical officials that we compensate., we also have equipment that we have to rent and put in place for a successful staging of events, ensuring that we operate according to World Athletics technical rules — and this is a heavy cost for us,” he said. “We are definitely seeking more sponsors for our organisation because it takes cash to care in everything that we do,” Gayle added.
“Our partnership with Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has been a cornerstone of our efforts to promote and develop this sport,” said Powell.
“We have been a named sponsor of our National Trials for well over a decade; and on a bigger stage we are proud to be the main contributor to the CHASE Fund, enabling them to carry out their activities in sports development, community development, health care, and the arts,” he said. “We understand that the journey of an athlete is one of dedication, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
“Our support facilitates the consistency required, offering the resources needed to excel on the global stage. From grass roots initiatives to supporting major national teams, our commitment to Jamaican sports has been unwavering,” he concluded.
