Here Comes the Hotstepper surges on Billboard charts

Reggae artiste Ini Kamoze scored a double on the Billboard charts with platinum-certified hit single Here Comes the Hotstepper and album of the same name.

The album, released in 1995, moves up from #9 to #8 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.

Meanwhile, the single which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1995, rises to #9 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart. It peaked at #4 on the June 1, 2024, dated chart.

Interestingly, the revived interest in both the song and album has been attributed to the use of the song in a Starbucks television commercial, which has been airing in North America.

Still on the Billboard charts, Santa by producer Rvssian, Rauw Alejandro and Ayra Starr experiences a downward trajectory on some listings. On Global 200 Excluding US, the song dips from #27 to #24, while on Global 200 it backtracks from #36 to #43.

Santa fares better on Hot Latin Songs, crashing from #7 to #12, while on Latin Streaming Songs it reverses from #6 to #18.

Over on Latin Rhythm Airplay, Santa steps up from #8 to #7, while on Latin Airplay it improves from #30 to #25.

Jump by Tyla, Gunna and Skillibeng should see an uptick on the charts next week following their performance of the song during Sunday night’s telecast of the BET Awards. However, the song has re-entered Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at #46, while moving up to #9 on World Digital Song Sales chart.

Jump falls on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay from #33 to #37, while on Hot R&B Songs it inches down from #7 to #8. Over on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, it improves from #29 to #28. On the Rhythmic Top 40 Airplay, Jump remains at #19.

Moving now to the sales- and streaming-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart, eight of the titles are all former chart-toppers.

Bob Marley and the Wailers clock 233 non-consecutive weeks in the #1 spot with
Legend, while Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection stays firm at #2.

Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection bullets from #7 to #3, while World on Fire and Set in Stone by Stick Figure are #4 and #5, while Greatest Hits by UB40 is #6.

Wisdom by Stick Figure dips to #7, Here Comes the Hotstepper by Ini Kamoze is #8, while
Welcome to Jamrock by Damian Marley and Burial Ground by Stick Figure re-enter the chart at #9 and #10.

Flava by Shenseea, featuring Coi Leray, falls from #13 to #30 on Germany’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart, while Honey Boy by Purple Disco Machine with Benjamin Ingrosso featuring Nile Rodgers and Shenseea, remains at #4 in Sweden, while rising to #14 in Poland.

Everything Bless by Ras Demo continues to hold down the #1 spot on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart.
Top of the Moon by multi-Juno award winner Exco Levi is #2, This too Shall Pass by Onique is #3, Smile by Michael St George is at #4, and The Frequency by Dudsy Mill and Blk Orchid holds down the #5 position.

Over onto the Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart, Ain’t Too Proud to Beg by Hezron and Beenie Man takes over the #1 spot.

See You Tonight by Naomi Cowan and Kabaka Pyramid rises to #21, while Can I Call You Rose by Natural Black is #22.
This is How We Roll by Buju Banton and Capleton debuts at #29.

Not Taking No by Peter G is the new #1 title on the South Florida Reggae chart. Wanna Be With You by Mikey Spice steps from #15 to #12 and Wiseman by Damian Marley enters at #23.
