In 2013 German production duo Silly Walks Discotheque, which comprises Joscha Hoffmann and Oliver Schrader, scored big with the Honey Pot rhythm, which yielded the hit Smile Jamaica by Chronixx.

The duo later followed up with another successful hit, Romain Virgo’s cover of Michael Bolton’s Soul Provider.

Singer Christopher Ellis is hoping to score success with Lessons in Love, which is produced by Silly Walks Discotheque.

The song, which makes a powerful statement for timeless music, is a soulful reggae anthem which is taken from Ellis’s own personal experience.

“I very much liken my music to the artistes of yesteryear. Music that will mature like wine, songs that do not expire with the season’s flavour. This is what I naturally do and this is where my music lives,” Ellis said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

He continued: “The inspiration for the song was a disagreement with my lady. Real situations that we all go through (even if we are in a perfect relationship) sometimes we get on each other’s nerves, but it’s all love in the end.”

This is his first time working with the Germany based producers.

“Me and Joscha linked, and he gave me two rhythms. When I played this rhythm it automatically jumped out at me. Lessons of love is the outcome,” said Ellis.

The artiste is the youngest son of the late Godfather of Rocksteady Alton Ellis. The elder Ellis died from cancer in 2008 in a London hospital.

He said he learnt a lot from his dad.

“My father taught me so much musically. He was always telling me to write songs. He would show me techniques on how to sing higher notes and things like that. I’m very appreciative of having him in my corner and schooling me on specific things in music,” he shared.

He told the Observer that at the age of 11 he stepped on the stage for the first time, performing with his father, and that signalled the start of his musical journey.

“The crowd roared so loud; we call it a fawad nowadays. It was exciting. When they gave me that LOUD fawad I got addicted to that feeling of approval from an audience. And that’s what I live for now! That’s why I love performing so much,” the Brixton, South London, native shared.

Aside from Christopher, the other Ellis sibling involved in music is Noel aka Rosa Rose, who resides in Trench Town.

Christopher said there’s no pressure to maintain the musical legacy of his father.

“I don’t feel no pressure to continue any legacy. I just love music and it’s all natural. I don’t have to sing! I chose to,” he explained.
