Spain, England in exciting Euro 2024 grand finale clash

Argentina, Colombia in mouth-watering Copa America final

The Euro 2024 grand finale will take place in Berlin on Sunday as Spain and England will do battle to be crowned European champions. Then later on Sunday, defending champions Argentina and Colombia will contest a mouth-watering Copa America final to be crowned kings of South America.

Event # 1 – Euro 2024 – Spain vs England – 2:00 PM

Spain has been the only team at the Euro 2024 to maintain a perfect record so far, winning all six matches to reach their third Euro final in the last five editions. Indeed, it’s been an incredible run of form given that they have faced the likes of Croatia, Italy, Germany, and France so far, and now they are just one win away from a record-breaking fourth European title. With that said, Spain have undoubtedly been the best team in the competition so far and have in their ranks the youngest-ever goal scorer at a major tournament in the exciting 16-year-old Lamine Yamal. The Spaniards and the Germans are currently tied with three Euro titles, and they will be aiming to move ahead of Germany with a win against an England side who are desperate to end their long wait for a major European title.

As for England, they have waited 58 long years to lift another trophy since they won the 1966 World Cup, and the English fans will be hoping to finally end years of heartbreak with a win over the impressive Spanish side. Sunday’s final will be the third international final that England have contested, having won the 1966 World Cup, and losing the previous European final to Italy. England started their Euro campaign with a win over Serbia but followed that up with two draws which left many questioning England’s chances of winning the tournament. They then faced Slovenia in the round of 16 and were on the brink of elimination before a stoppage time equaliser took the game to penalties where they prevailed. Indeed, they were taken to penalties by Switzerland in the quarter-finals and again prevailed and having played arguably their best game of the tournament so far in the semi-finals against the Netherlands, they left it late again, scoring a 91st-minute winner to seal their spot in the final against Spain.

Key Stats

• Spain – Spain have won their last five matches and are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions. Four of Spain’s last six matches have ended with at least three being scored.

• England – England are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions, their last defeat a 1-0 friendly loss to Iceland at home.

• Both sides – England have lost just twice in their last eight meetings with Spain and only once since the 1950 World Cup. Spain and England played to a 2-2 draw back in 2016 and each of their last three matches have seen both sides score.

The betting Tip. Spain win.

Event # 2 Copa America 2024 – Argentina vs Colombia – 7:00 PM

Argentina and Colombia will square off for the Copa America 2024 title this Sunday. The defending champions, Argentina, booked their spot by beating Canada 2-0, while Colombia defeated Uruguay 1-0 in a hot-tempered encounter. Argentina haven’t been challenged much in their run to the final except for a penalty shootout win over Ecuador in the quarter-final and are aiming to become the all-time leaders with Copa titles. With a win over the impressive Colombians, they will break the tie with Uruguay, with 15 Copa America titles each. With that said, having cruised through most of the games so far in their title defence, Argentina will have to be at their best in the final to defeat a Colombian side who have looked hugely impressive so far.

Colombia enters this Copa America finale in red-hot form, having gone unbeaten in 28 straight games in all competitions, the longest run in their history. And now, Colombia will put their impressive win streak on the line against an in-form Argentina, in what will be their first final appearance in 23 years. Indeed, Colombia have only one Copa America title to their name, which came in 2001 with a victory over Mexico. However, the Colombians enter this final with confidence high in the camp as they come into this match unbeaten in their last 17 international matches, going without a defeat over the last 12 months. They have won four of their five matches played at the current Copa America campaign and will be fired up to win their second Copa America title.

Key Stats

• Argentina – Argentina beat Colombia on penalties in the semi-final of the last Copa America tournament and followed that up with a 1-0 win in the current World Cup qualifying campaign.

• Colombia – Colombia haven’t had a good record in this fixture in recent times, with just one win in the last 12 meetings.

• Both sides – Argentina are unbeaten in their last three matches against Colombia, winning their last clash 1-0 in February 2022. Colombia’s only win in their last 14 matches against Argentina came in June 2019.

The betting Tip. Argentina win.
