Nigy Boy excited for Sumfest debut
An already fruitful year for Nigy Boy continues on July 20 when the singer performs at Reggae Sumfest at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, his hometown.
The 23 year-old artiste had a breakout single with Continent, produced by Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston.
It earned him fans in Jamaica, as well as dancehall-reggae markets in the United States, The Bahamas and Guyana.
“It’s definitely a joyous feeling to be able to perform in my hometown on such a massive event as Reggae Sumfest. As a Montego Bay native, I am honoured that my first major performance in Jamaica is happening on the soil I was raised. I’m grateful that the people who watched me grow up will be the first to observe the talent and person that Montego Bay birthed and nurtured,” Nigy Boy told the Jamaica Observer.
In February, he was in Jamaica to promote Continent. One of his stops was in Montego Bay at The Salvation Army for The Blind, where he was once a student.
Three months later, the visually-impaired Nigy Boy was awarded bachelor of arts degrees in political science and history from Stony Brook University in New York, USA.
“Professionally, the past six months have been a time of growth and development for my career. I am proud to know that I have come so far in such a short amount of time and I am grateful for every single opportunity that helped me to get to this point,” he said.
