Burglar who returned to crime scene to assault woman a second time, charged
DETECTIVES assigned to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) charged a 23-year-old St James man with burglary, robbery with aggravation, grievous sexual assault, attempted rape, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony after he returned to the scene of his crime a second time, and tried to sexually assault his victim.
The incidents occurred in the Rough Road community of St James.
The police said the man, from Sun Valley Road in Glendevon, first went to a woman’s house sometime in May, climbed onto the roof, removed a sheet of zinc, and then entered. He reportedly brandished a firearm, robbed her of $149,000, and then sexually assaulted her.
The police said he returned to the same address in July, and again tried to sexually assault the woman; however, she screamed and he ran away. She made a report to the police, and following an investigation, the man was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
