Vybz Kartel earns eighth top 10 entry on Billboard Reggae Albums chart

KINGSTON, Jamaica — First Week Out, the 12-track mixtape by dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, has debuted in the number eight position on this week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart.

The set, released on July 31 via 21st Hapilos Compilations, features three collaborations with dancehall artiste Squash.

First Week Out is the eighth title by Vybz Kartel to make it inside the Top 10 of the reggae albums chart. The deluxe edition of Kingston Story topped out at #12 in 2012, while Kartel Forever: Trilogy rose to a peak of number 11 in 2013.

Vybz Kartel ties for second place with Sean Paul as the Jamaican dancehall artiste with the second most charted titles on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.   They both have ten entries.

Beenie Man holds the record with 15. However, when you break it down to Jamaicans with the most charted titles, Bob Marley and the Wailers take first place with 17 entries, twelve of which have topped the chart.

Bob Marley and the Wailers occupy the #1 spot on this week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart, spending 239 non-consecutive weeks on top with Legend.
