EPL returns as Man U, Fulham clash today at Old Trafford

JustBet offers Fulham at odds of $5.33 to beat Man U

The wait is finally over as the English Premier League returns this weekend with Manchester United and Fulham kicking things off today at Old Trafford.

Event # 1 – EPL – Man United vs Fulham – 2:00 PM

Having sensationally defeated cross-town neighbours Man City in the FA Cup final last season to save the job of Coach Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United will be aiming to get their new campaign off to a winning start and they appear to have a winnable opening home match against Fulham. Indeed, since Fulham’s win at Old Trafford last season, only Arsenal have managed to beat Manchester United on their home ground, as they were very successful at home last season, winning 10 of their 19 matches played. With that said, Man United have won their opening game in the Premier league 21 times, more than any other side in the league’s history.

Fulham, meanwhile, have a poor record at Old Trafford in recent times, despite their win last February, losing on 13 of their 17 trips to Old Trafford, and have never won back-to-back away league games against Man United. With that said, Fulham might struggle to secure a result against Man United having lost their star player Joao Paulino to Bayern Munich during the summer. But Fulham do enter this opening match in good form following a good preseason where they won four of their five games played.

Key Stats

• Man United – Man United have lost just one of their last seven home matches in the League.

• Fulham – Fulham lost nine of their 19 away games last season.

• Both sides – Fulham defeated Man United 2-1 last season but United have never lost back-to-back home games against Fulham in the history of the Premier League.

The betting Tip. Man United win.

Event # EPL – Ipswich vs Liverpool– 6:30 AM

Ipswich Town makes a return to the Premier league after 22 long years and they will face a stern test when they welcome Liverpool, who will enter a Premier League match without Jurgen Klopp as manager for the first time in nearly nine years, with new boss Arne Slot on the sidelines. Indeed, Ipswich’s return to the Premier League is a story that has captured the imagination of everyone and the return of the Tractor Boys, as they are called, to the top table of English football has been nothing short of extraordinary, with successive promotions from League One to the championship, and now to the Premier League. Having scored the most goals (92) in the championship last season, Ipswich ended the season unbeaten in their last five matches, with three draws and two wins.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will start a new campaign without Jurgen Klopp at the helm after the German coach called time on his tenure at the end of last season. Indeed, Liverpool’s endured a season of difficulties in their last campaign as they were in the title race for most of the season, only to suffer a dramatic collapse in the final weeks of the season, finishing third in the final standing. That frustration of narrowly missing out on the title was compounded by Jurgen Klopp’s decision to step down as coach, bringing an end to one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. No doubt the departure of Klopp left a huge void to be filled; however, most Liverpool fans have been left gobsmacked, as Liverpool are the only team in all of Europe’s top five league yet to make a single summer incoming transfer, which has left most pundits and fans assuming that Liverpool will struggle to finish in the top four this season.

Key Stats

• Ipswich – Ipswich have not won any of their last three meetings against Liverpool, but they were the highest scorers in the championship last season with 92 goals.

• Liverpool – Following on from last season, Liverpool have only failed to score in one of their last six matches.

• Both sides – The last meeting between both sides saw Liverpool beating Ipswich both home and away in the 2002 Premier League campaign.

The betting Tip. Liverpool win.
